Hattie Fowler Freeman Grubbs Payton, 96, died February 19, 2021 in Arizona. Born March 16, 1924 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Betty Turner Fowler.  Hattie was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Volla Artist Freeman, Sherwood Grubbs, Ralph Payton; and a grandson, Kevin Stowell; five brothers, Morris, Bob, Bill, Roy and Homer Fowler. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Freeman (Dan) Ault; her grandchildren, Stephen Stowell and Carla (Rick) Ward; her greatgrandchildren Colin Baker, Jack Ward, Luke Ward; nephew, Doc Robert Fowler Jr; and many nieces and nephews. Receiving of friends from 12 to 1, Friday, March 5, 2021, prior to the service, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Funeral service will be 1pm, Friday, March 5, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. The service will be live on Stith Funeral Home’s Facebook page.  Rev. Brent Rowe will officiate.  Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
