Freda Elaine Shafer died on May 20, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky, at the age of 82. Born on April 15, 1943, in Forkland, Kentucky, to the late Denzil and Nannie Belcher, she brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.

Freda was preceded in death by her husbands, Willam Benton Mobley and David Ward Shafer, daughter, Ellen Melanie Ross, and son, William Clifton Shafer

Freda, a devoted homemaker, dedicated her life to nurturing her family and raising her grandchildren.

Freda was an adventurous spirit, finding joy in traveling and exploring new places, with a particular love for her time spent in Florida. She had a green thumb and found solace in her garden, where she nurtured both plants and relationships, cultivating beauty in every corner of her life. Her passion for antiques reflected her appreciation for history and the stories that come with each cherished item.

Freda is survived by her daughters Caroline Boyd and Nanett Williams, grandchildren, Harvey Stratton III, Joseph Stratton, Joshua Stratton, Christopher Deets, Amanda Perez, Brittany Deets, Seth Shafer, and Payton Shafer. Freda also delighted in her great-grandchildren, Gavin Deets, Alana Deets, Isabella Deets, Breanna Stratton, Ruby Stratton, Brooklyn Stratton, Hailey Jones, Christian Perez, Angel Perez, Kyra Barnette, Gunner Deets, Connor Deets, and Isaiah Perez, whom she cherished deeply, her brother, Ronald Belcher, and her sister-in-law, Nancy Belcher. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
