Elizabeth Nesbitt 93, passed peacefully May 30, 2024, in her home at Walker’s Trail Senior Living, in Danville, Kentucky. Elizabeth Carolyn Pylant Nesbitt was born December 8, 1930, in Chambles, Georgia, to the late Frances Elizabeth and Astor Filmore Pylant. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard Nesbitt, and sisters Martha Ann Pylant and Sandra Jane Keyes. Elizabeth was raised in Purvis, Mississippi graduated from the University of Mississippi, University of Southern, Mississippi, and attended William Carey College.

Mrs. Nesbitt was a lifelong educator, teaching since the 1950s in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Hattiesburg Public Schools, and retired her career at Morehead State University.

She is survived by her children, Monica (Steve) Whitaker of Guntersville, Alabama, Kevin (Marti) Nesbitt of Danville, Kentucky, and Tracey Nesbitt, of Columbus, Ohio. She is survived by four grandchildren Staton (Ashley) Nesbitt of Salvisa, Kentucky, Tyler (Kayla) Whitaker of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Pearce (Miranda) Nesbitt of Richmond, Kentucky and Joseph (Stephanie) Whitaker, of Nicholasville, Kentucky. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Anna Warren Nesbitt, Parker Nesbitt, Waylon Tyler Whitaker, and Lenora Cay Nesbitt.

Mrs. Nesbitt will return to her Mississippi home for burial at Roseland Park in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

  1. Peg, came into my life in 1975 in Morehead Ky..she was like my 2nd mom.. My mentor and the one that keep me from quitting college..She remained in my life until the Lord took her..Every New years, Christmas Thanksgiving and Her Birthday I never missed calling her since 1975.. I sure will miss her and her advice and Knowledge.. she sure had the best heart than anyone.. Thank you for your friendship, Education and for being my friend..I sure loved you..
