Donald Lewis Sexton

Donald Lewis “Bud” Sexton, 83, died Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He was born in Harrodsburg, KY on September 17, 1935 to the late Fred L. and Gladys Nave Sexton. Bud was a graduate of Burgin High School and a member of the Burgin Christian Church. He joined the Burgin Fire Department in 1954 and was Chief 1967 to 1970. Bud joined the Boyle County Fire Department and served as Assistant Chief then Chief before retiring inn 2006. He was the past President of the Central Kentucky Firefighters Association. Bud was a plumber for many years and loved antique cars. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Louise Brown Sexton and a step-granddaughter, Sarah Benedict.
He is survived by a son, Donald L. Sexton Jr. (Melinda) of Burgin; a step-son, Colby (Pat) Benedict of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Jean (Leonard) Wills of Lancaster; two grandsons, Lewis (Dawn) Sexton and Brian (Erica) Sexton both of Burgin; two step-grandchildren, Emily Benedict and Daniel Benedict both of Mobile, AL. and five great grandchildren, Cooper, Jack, Emma, Reed and Benson Sexton.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 14, 2019 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Chaplain Josh Stine and Chaplain Tony Pike will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tharen Stevens, Daniel Sims, Tony Broyles, Robbie Milburn, Jimmy Coffman, Jonathan Wesley and Tim Middleton. Members of the fire department will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., Monday prior to the funeral service at Stith Funeral Home.
