Donald Lee “Shotgun” Moore, 77, died Friday, October 11, 2019. Born on November 21, 1941 in Garrard County to the late John Wesley and Sallie Elizabeth Duncan Moore. Donald graduated from Junction City High School and of the Baptist faith. He was a farmer, sheet metal worker for Penn Ventilator and a school bus driver for Boyle County schools. Donald loved his dog, Sam; trail riding standardbred horses; and feeding his horse peppermints. He was a member of a Thursday night bowling league. Donald was very active in sports; loved to play basketball, cornhole, and softball until 20 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Moore; three daughters, Christy Lee Moore of Danville, Cathy Lynn Moore of Danville, Norma Elizabeth “ Beth” Denham (Chris) of Lancaster; two sons, James David Moore of Junction City and Michael Gregory (Stacy) Moore of Richmond; one grandson, William Clay Denham; a sister, Margaret Ann (Larry) Long of Stanford; and two brothers, Eddie Moore of Junction City and James Wesley Moore of Parksville.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Rev. JR Fields will officiate. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Martin, Eddie Martin, Steve McIntosh, Will Denham, Michael Moore, David Zeller and Larry Joe Long. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Wilson, Mel Davis, Henry McCowan, Roger Cox, John Land, Bill McCowan, Allen Doud and David Land. Visitation will be after 5 p.m., Tuesday October 15, 2019 at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Memorial donations are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
