Dick Davis
January 11, 1949 ~ February 6, 2024
Dick Davis, 75, of Danville, returned to his Heavenly Father on February 6th, 2024 after a very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born January 11th, 1949 in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Charles and Edna Davis. He was a Henry Clay High School graduate, a proud Navy veteran, an avid golfer, and a Kentucky Wildcat for life. After graduating college, he moved to Danville and was very honored to start the Respiratory Therapy Department at Ephraim McDowell Hospital where he met his wife, Wanda. He never met a stranger, and his goal in life was to make people laugh. Over the years he cared for countless patients, but his greatest source of pride was his children Todd and Kelly. He loved spending time with his family and being a Papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a dedicated member of Southland Christian Church and a beloved member of his Friday morning men’s bible study. He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Wanda.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Todd Davis (Karen) and Kelly Mindel (Jesse), his grandchildren Lauren Smolenski (Ryan), Stephanie Barsotti (Patrick), Brenna Doan (Glenn), Christopher Davis (Tanner), Cameron Davis, Parker Mindel (Jenna), Payton Mindel and Jacob Gallegos, his great-grandchildren Audrey and Piper Doan, Bennett Logue, Mia, and Quinn Smolenski and Dallas Davis, his brother Bob Davis (Karen), his two sisters Nancye Thomas and Martha Bourne (JC), his nephews Scott Perkins, John Bourne, Robbie Davis, Jeff Davis and Justin Gibson, his nieces, DeAnna Bourne Cummins, Robin Perkins, Jenny Davis Bradley, Sandy Davis Jansen, and Jaclyn Ord along with countless other family and friends.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Interment will be
held at Bellevue Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects at the visitation from 4 -6 p.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Davis, Cameron Davis, Parker Mindel, Jacob Gallegos, Ryan Smolenski, Glenn Doan, and Patrick Barsotti. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of his Friday morning bible study and the Ephraim Respiratory Therapy Department. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the Emergency Room staff and 3rd-floor staff of Ephraim McDowell Hospital as well as the staff of Heritage Hospice. Also, a sincere thank you to members of the Danville Fire Department and Boyle County EMS for your compassion and assistance during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Heritage Hospice and the American Lung Association.
