Denny Alford

April 25, 1955 ~ May 19, 2025
Denny Blaine Alford, 70, of Moreland, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025. Born on April 25, 1955, in Wyandotte, Michigan, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Wilda Taylor Alford.
Denny was a fantastic musician. He loved getting together with family and friends to sing and play Bluegrass/Southern Gospel music. He played such instruments as the Banjo, Guitar, Piano, Organ, Bass, and accordion. He even played backup for Bill Monroe in Ottawa, OH.
He was also an excellent mechanic, working on vehicles throughout his lifetime. In his younger years, he worked at Cadillac in Michigan and also drove a tanker truck here in Kentucky for a number of years.
Denny was always well-liked by many, a best friend if you had him, and never met a stranger.
Denny is survived by his daughter, April (James) Carmickle of Junction City; sons, Adam Alford and Alden Alford of Moreland; sisters, Delona Alford of Junction City and Glennita McElroy of Moreland; and grandchildren, Kimberly Carmickle and Lila Carmickle both of Danville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Renee Preston, and a brother, Grant Alford.
The funeral service will be 1 pm, May 30, 2025 at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City with visitation from 11am to 1pm prior to the service. Denny’s close friend, Mike Grizzell, will officiate, and his granddaughter, Kimberly, will say a few words.
