May 3, 1958 ~ May 26, 2026

Deborah Kay Davenport, 68, of Danville, Kentucky passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday May 26, 2026. Born on May 3,1958 in Danville, Kentucky to Dortha Boyd and the late Ed Boyd.

Deborah, known as “Debbie” by her friends and family, devoted her life to nurturing the minds and hearts of young learners as a teacher’s aide at Junction City Elementary School for over 20 years. She was passionate about education and became a steady source of encouragement, comfort, and support for both students and colleagues. After retiring she often volunteered in her daughter’s classroom at Stanford Elementary. Together, they coached the Academic Team for several years.

Survivors include her mother, Dortha Boyd; husband of 47 years, Johnny Davenport; one daughter, Ashley (Eric) East, one brother, Wayne (Linda) Boyd; one sister in law, Anita Combs; close friends who became like family, Baxter and Kathy East, and Clay, Andrea, and Thomas Contini. Her family was her greatest joy and she cherished every moment spent with them. Deborah was preceded in death by her loving father Ed Boyd.

Beyond her career,  Deborah found happiness in the simple pleasures. She cherished her retirement years spent with Johnny.  She adored the time spent with her daughter, who was more like a best friend.  Together they made many trips to Pigeon Forge, enjoyed the sun while floating in her pool, and enjoyed countless shopping trips. Her fondness for the ocean led her to Panama City Beach every summer, where she would create lasting memories with her family, often seated by the ocean in her beach chair. Eric and her could often be heard picking at each other in good nature. On Sundays, she could be found in her back row seat at Junction City First Baptist Church.

Deborah’s kindness, warmth, and heart will be missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion and love will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many students she inspired throughout her career.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City at 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM. Officiating will be Dr Choe Sergent. Pallbearers will be Clay Contini, Ron Yanders, Tommy McGirr, Jacob High, Matthew East and Baxter East.
