David Lee Haines, 77, of Junction City died peacefully surrounded by his daughters on January 14, 2025. Born on July 26, 1947, in Seymour, Indiana, to the late Samuel and Frances Haines. David spent a lifetime immersed in the joys of family and the great outdoors. A talented carpenter by trade, he was dedicated to his craft, a cherished father and beloved friend. He was a United States Navy veteran and member of Junction City United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his brother Dane Allen Walden.

David will be remembered for his love of music and his free spirit. He often spent time in nature, surrounded by the beauty he cherished. An avid rock collector in his retirement years, he found delight in the small treasures of the earth, each stone telling its own story. His enthusiasm for life extended to dancing and entertaining, where he would light up any social gathering with his creative energy and enthusiasm. A true animal lover, he opened his heart and home to many furry friends.

He is survived by his son, David (Dawn) Goeltzenleuchter, and his four daughters, Jennifer (Tom) Lorge, Sonyia, Amanda Nethercutt, and Mericia (Justin) Henderson, his significant other Imogene Walls, his 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and brother Samuel Francis Haines. David’s legacy will continue in the hearts of his children, who carry forward his love for nature and adventure.

The memorial service will be at noon, Friday, January 24, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City with Rev. Kyle Long officiating, the family will receive friends prior to the service at 11 a.m., Friday. The burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy.
