Charles “Charlie” Robert Smith, 91, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at his residence. Born on July 13, 1934, in Frankfort, Kentucky to the late William and Lottie Smith; Charles was a beloved husband, father, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and generous spirit.

Charlie dedicated his career to maintenance within the delivery industry, culminating in many years of service with Overnight. As a Navy veteran, Charlie was proud to have served his country and those he surrounded himself by. Charlie was also a proud Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), as well as a member of the American Legion and the Elks Lodge #530. His commitment to his community was evident, as he made friends wherever he went, often collecting a colorful array of nicknames from those he encountered.

Charlie cherished the great outdoors, earning a fondness for fishing and camping under the stars. He was an avid supporter of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, finding joy in cheering for his team. Famed for his impeccable sense of humor and positive attitude, he faced life’s challenges with amazing strength, never once complaining.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Dianne Grasham Smith, his daughters Patti (Gary) Glover and Kim Jones, his sons Rick (Venus) Casey and Stacey Casey, his siblings Mike Smith and Janice Smith Burke, his grandchildren Taylor (Xinh) Glover, Brian (Andi Jasper) Barnet, Jennifer Smith, Ethan Casey, William Dunn, Stacey Casey II, Avery Casey, Kristian (Wade) Laymance, Dakota Casey, his great-grandchildren Issac, Michael, Sebastian, Jane, Alyssa, and Avery and his nephews Will Gamble and David Gamble.

The family will gather for a graveside service at 2 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Rick Casey, Stacey Casey, Taylor Glover, Brian Barnett, Ethan Casey, and Stacey Casey II.
