Charles “Bob” Robert Gordon, 82, died Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in Danville. Born May 13, 1937 in Marion County to the late James Sidney and Margaret Dee Pope Gordon. Bob was a graduate of Lebanon High School. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Bob retired from Corning Glass as a line worker in the furnace department in Harrodsburg. He was an avid collector of fruit jars, antique toys and trains. Bob was also a woodworker, making stools, doll beds and small furniture items. He also loved to fish. He is predeceased by his parents and his wife, Frances Jewell Gordon. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Jo Gordon of Danville; two sons, Dennis Lynn (Debbie) Gordon of Harrodsburg, William Stuart Gordon of Danville; three grandchildren, Kourtney (Blake) Shewmaker, Matthew (Jenna) Gordon, Haley Gordon; four great-grandchildren, Sawyer Gordon, Gentry Gordon, Brianna Boyd, Skylar Shewmaker; three sisters, LeeAnna (the late Kenneth) Randolph of Danville, Regina (Phil) Cappadonia of Buckner, KY, Wanda Lee (Sonny) Broesder of Billings, Montana; and one brother, Sidney (Carol) Gordon of Gravel Switch. The funeral service will be 3 pm, Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Stuart Benningfield will officiate the service. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens on Monday. Pallbearers will be Gayle Prewitt, Scott Whitis, Stuart Gordon, Rodney Gordon, Matthew Gordon, Bernard Alsip, Travis Tingle and Blake Shewmaker. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Kent Nichols, Eugene McHolan, Darrell Young, Scott Gordon, Robert Pack, Roger Cunningham, Larry Randolph, Skylar Shewmaker, Brianna Boyd, Gentry Gordon and Sawyer Gordon. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 pm – 3 pm. Memorial donations are suggested to The Gideons International or Gravel Switch Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 12-3 pm with funeral service at 3 pm at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Burial is Monday at Danville Memorial Gardens.
