Charlene Durham Benge, 77, died Saturday, January 12, 2019. Born in Danville, Kentucky on July 5, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William Elwood and Sibbie Turner Durham. Charlene was the owner of the family business Durham’s Beauty School, which has been in her family for 77 years. She is a member of First Christian Church. In addition to her parents, Charlene was predeceased by a sister Joanna Bugg and a brother George Merrick. She is survived by her husband, of 36 years, James Benge of Danville; a daughter, Debbie (Kevin) Stamper of Stanford; two sons, Robert “Bobby” (Heidi) Bell of Franklin and John Michael (Elaine) Bell of Danville; her sister, Charlotte Pena of Louisville; five grandchildren, Erica Cook, Lakeland T. Bell, Cody Fleming, Molly Fleming, Beau Fleming;  two  great grandchildren, Bryce Cook  and Cade Jenkins. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Dr. Darryl Allen will officiate. Pallbearers will be Doug Warren, Danny Bugg, Derek Benge, Terry Goode, John Edwards-Wohrle and Billy Collier. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m., Wednesday, January 17. 2019 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to American Diabetes or Heritage Hospice.
