November 11, 1940 ~ March 19, 2026

Brenda Faye Suggs, 85, loving mother, wife, and dedicated educator. Brenda was born
on November 11, 1940, in Brookford, North Carolina to the late Clyde and Mary Lou
Sprouse. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 58 years
Curtis Lee Suggs. She devoted her life to teaching and nurturing young minds as an
elementary school teacher, leaving a mark on the lives of generations of students.

In addition to her career as a teacher, she spent countless hours with her husband and
son, Thomas, traveling around the country, exploring museums, historical sites, caves,
reading aloud in the car, etc. She found joy in all forms of learning, and promoted it to
all around her.

However, she was more than a teacher, she was a devoted daughter and sister to her
family – who knew her as Faye. She cherished opportunities to visit, trade stories, and
reminisce about growing up in North Carolina. She especially loved the annual trip with
her sisters to visit locations around the country. She was an artist, as well, and her
hand-made quilts are cherished by family.

Brenda is survived by her son, Thomas (Jean-Marie) Suggs, as well as her sisters
Connie Finger (David) and Nina Smith (Boone), and brothers Ricky (Chris) and Dexter
Sprouse.

Her family will gather to remember her in the summer. Brenda Faye Suggs will be
deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live on in our hearts and the many lives she
touched. May she rest in peace.

  1. Brenda was one of my best friends and the only one I never met. We connected in the early days of education computer training when the assignment was to find a penpal online from a list of agreeable writers. We kept up the friendship over years which now escape me, until she went into assisted living. I will always remember our correspondence and what a delight it was to hear from her.
