Elizabeth “Bettie” Walters, 96, died on September 10, 2025. Born on August 2, 1929, in Wilmore, Kentucky, to the late William and Mary Elizabeth Rhorer. She attended Asbury College. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister-in-law, known for her creative spirit and unwavering dedication to her family. Bettie was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert R. Walters, and a grandson, James William Gram.

Bettie spent her life enriching the lives of those around her, embodying the role of a homemaker with grace and passion. She was an amazing mother who took joy in dressing her daughters, refinishing furniture, and sewing, always striving to create a warm and welcoming home. An avid dog lover, she cherished many walks with her loyal companion, Max, by her side. Bettie’s commitment to her family extended beyond the walls of her home; she was always present for her children and grandchildren through life’s many challenges.

She was a member of Centenary Methodist Church; her faith was a constant in her life.

Bettie is survived by her three daughters, Sue Ann Walters (Richard F. Clarke), Mary Lou (William Clarence) Gram, Jackie Rose Walters (Todd Gregory Williams); grandchildren, Jennifer Alcala (Pablo), Dee Walters Gram (Roxanne Dian), Elizabeth Dee Williams (Austin Ayotte), and Jonathan Todd Williams; and great-grandchildren, Claire Katherine Alcala and Kennedy Elizabeth Ayotte.

The funeral service will be at 12 p.m., Monday, September 15, 2025, in the Chapel at Centenary Methodist Church with Rev. Nora Conner officiating. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at the same location from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., allowing friends and family to gather and pay their respects. Burial will be at Bellevue Cemetery with her husband.

Elizabeth Booth Walters leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

  1. She was my Mom & Dad’s neighbor and many times they would stand at the backyard fence and talk for long periods! She really helped me through the emotional trauma of losing Mom & Dad just 26 days apart! She was a great and loving individual who’s faith shown in the words she spoke, and the compassion she had for others! She’ll be dearly missed!
