Barbara Carol Sylvan, 74, died on October 24, 2023. She was born to the late Clarence and Christina Hunt on June 17, 1949, in Port Arthur, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. After high school graduation, Barbara earned her bachelor’s degree and became a librarian for the public library and local schools where she was the Head and Coordinator of Circulation. “Nana”, as she was affectionately called, always made herself available to her family. She was the glue that held everyone together. Barbara was always in constant contact with her kids. She attended Junction City United Methodist Church. Barbara is survived by her husband, Wayne S. Sylvan; sons, James Gordon Smith and Steven Patrick Smith; brother, William “Billy” John Hunt; grandchildren, Ava Smith, Pyper Smith, Jorja Smith and Poppy Smith; nieces, Jessica Hunt, Jenny Mademba and Jacklyn Hunt; and nephew, Jeffery Hunt. Gathering of friends will be 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023, with a time of remembrance at 2:45 pm at Junction City United Methodist Church with Pastor Jea Suh officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society. An online guestbook is available at www.stithcares.com.
