Barbara Sue May Halcomb, 89, of Danville, KY died Thursday, August 29, 2019. Born on October 30, 1929 in Salyersville, KY to the late Paris and June Adams May. Barbara graduated from Salyersville High School and attended Georgetown College, Eastern Kentucky University. She received her degree in teaching and was a first-grade teacher for Harrodsburg and Danville School systems. Barbara enjoyed gardening, travel, attending Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, and was a huge Kentucky basketball fan. She is predeceased by her infant son, Stephen Dale Halcomb and her husband, Harry Halcomb.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann Harriet Halcomb of Danville, KY; her brother, Lowell (Mary Sue) May of Salyersville, KY; her nephew, Dwight David (Sherry) May; and her special caregiver, Lisa.
A graveside service will be held 12:00 pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, KY. Officiating the service will be Rev. Tommy Valentine. Memorial donations are suggested to Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.

So sorry for your loss. She was my first grade teacher and I will always remember her.
She was a great friend of my Mother, Chloteen Wheeler. They went to school together in Salyersville. She is truly saddened by her passing. Our condolences to her family.
My deepest sympathies. Barbara and I swam together for many years and she was such a sweet, dear lady! She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers for her family during this difficult time.
Barbara and Harry were neighbors in Dexter Court for as long as I could remember. I remember Barbara as a quiet and soft-spoken person, a kind neighbor, and as a teacher at Jennie Rogers. No doubt she will be missed by her family as well as many others who knew her. My sincere condolences to Ann Harriet and the rest of the family.
