Anthony Waddell

Tony Waddell made his way home on September 23, 2026. Our precious Tony experienced life
for 74 years. He was born on September 15, 1952, in Boyle County, where he graduated high
school in 1970. Upon graduating, he went straight to the United States Navy, where he became a
Chief Petty Officer. He served honorably for 26 years. Due to Tony’s skills, he not only became a
leader of men, but due to the nature of his rank, he could take over command of a ship if the need
arose.

Tony enjoyed farming and was a great leader at the Boyle County Farmers Market. He loved his
community and could be found regularly organizing the market and taking care of the people.
Tony was a dedicated father who loved and enjoyed his girls, Candace (Jason) McNeely and Valerie Waddell.

He cherished his grandchildren, Alexzander Cook and Hayde Waddell-Buttgereit, and his brother, Philip Waddell.
Alice Nobella Waddell cherished Tony during their marriage of 33 years. She treasured their
time together and will truly miss him singing “Goodnight Sweetheart.” Tony was preceded in
death by his parents, Hershel and Daisy Wilson Waddell. He is also preceded in death by his sisters,
Linda Sheer and Cynthia Wilburn.

Please join us in celebrating Tony’s remarkable life from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2026
at Gethsemane Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, October 2, 2026 at the
church. Rev. JR Fields and Rev. Tim Mathis will be officiating. Burial will be at Camp Nelson
National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the American Legion Caswell Saufley Post #18.
