Anna Young Layton, 89, of Danville, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born on December 30, 1934, in Danville, KY, Anna was the cherished daughter of the late Amos and Louise Young. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J.D. Layton; her sister, Norma Caldwell; and her brother, Donald Young.

A 1952 graduate of Danville High School, Anna enjoyed a long career as a bookkeeper for Glyn D. Kerbaugh and Nash, Cleveland & Godfrey Veterinary Clinic. She was a devoted member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, where she found great joy in attending services and volunteering alongside her sisters. Family and faith were the foundations of Anna’s life. She was a constant source of love and support to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren – never missing an opportunity to celebrate them.

Anna’s memory will be forever cherished by her son, Eddie Layton, and her daughter, Cynthia (Ray) Hammond. She also leaves behind her sister, Patsy Sharp; her grandchildren, Jesse Layton, Mary Beth (Alex) Griffin, Katie (Brad) Williams, and Christopher (Scott) Corcoran-Levin; and step-grandsons, Jason (Julie) Hammond, and Drew (Ashley) Hammond. Her great-grandchildren include Henry Griffin, Grace Griffin, Anna Williams, Charlie Williams, Jeslynn Layton, Jaran Layton, Jensen Layton, Jack Hammond, Jaida Hammond, and Jonah Hammond. Anna was deeply loved by her extended family and many dear friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Morning Pointe Assisted Living of Danville, KY, and Heritage Hospice for their compassionate care.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Stith Funeral Home in Danville.

Anna’s warm smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for others will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lexington Avenue Baptist Church or Heritage Hospice.
