Anna Sue Gooch Gaskin, 74, of Danville, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Born July 2, 1942 in Dwale, Floyd Co., Ky , she was the daughter of the late Reynold Darrell and Sally Jane May Nelson. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation for many years and also helped her sister at the former Coney Island Restaurant. Sue grew up in Dwale and attended Prestonsburg Schools. She enjoyed music, especially Alan Jackson, whom she named her dog, Jackson, after. She loved the UK Wildcats, vacations with her family to Gatlinburg or the beach, Savannah, Georgia or Tybee Island were some of her favorites and especially Christmas with her family.
Sue collected porcelain dolls and jewelry. She loved her children and grandchildren and was strong in her faith, she always let you know where she stood on any subject, whether she agreed with you or not.
Sue was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, William Harold Nelson, Brenda Kaye Nelson, Betty Linda Nelson and David Ray Nelson and two grandsons, Johnathan Russell Gooch and Samuel Burdine Gooch.
She is survived by four children, Sandra \"Sandy\" (Tony) Gooch-Royalty of Junction City, Brenda Gooch (Scotty) Shearer of Danville, John Wesley (Lisa) Gooch of Lexington and Tim Gooch of Danville; four grandchildren, Olivia Gooch, Clarissa McGinnis, Cameron Scott Gooch and Cassandra Carey and a great-grandson, Aiden McGinnis-Shearer; three sisters and a brother, Phyllis Deloris Davis and Patricia Darlene Dillon, both of Danville, Joy Lynn (James) Adams of Princeton and Tommy Glenn (Barbara) Nelson of Dwale, and nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Nelson, Thomas Jordan Nelson, Kristin Jenkins, Jim Davis, Mary Newton, Melissa Kaye Dillon, Jon-Marc Adams, James Williams Adams and the late Reynold \"Randy\" Dillon.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2017 at Stith Funeral Home. Rev. Matthew Robbins will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Edelen, Cameron Gooch, Jordan White, Tony Royalty, Zachary Thornton and Codie Hill, Visitation will be Sunday, after 3 p.m. at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to the Danville Boyle Co. Humane Society.
