Albert L. Goins, Jr., passed away on November 9, 2024, at the age of 71 of lung cancer.
Predeceased by his father, Albert L. Goins, Sr,; son, Albert L. Goins III; sister, Rebecca Sue Goins; brothers, James Russell Goins, Larry Wayne Goins and Roy Edward Goins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Goins; sons, Michael Eric Goins of Clarion, IA, Aaron Preston Goins of Rochester, NY; mother, Josie E. Goins of Danville, KY; sisters, Sheila K. McCormick of Wayne Town, IN, Deana (Randy) Foxworthy of Marshall, IN, Caryn (Jeff) Fuqua of Danville, KY and Sara Goins of Danville, KY; brother, Richard Goins of Crawfordsville, IN; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Al was born in Lancaster, KY on September 8, 1953. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force as a Precision Measurement Technician for 9 years. The Air Force was an adventure; he traveled to Denver, CO from there to Omaha, NE. And then a remote tour to Shemya, AK and then to Alamorogordo, NM and then to Rochester, NY.
He graduated from RIT with high honors in Associate Applied Science.
He retired from Eastman Kodak after 33 years. He loved to write poetry in his younger years. He was a Webelos leader for Boy Scouts; and then in his later years he loved downloading old movies and playing Hayday and watching Jeopardy. He could generally answer every question on the show. He was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. He loved his dogs. Every year he took his dachshunds to the The Dachshunds Parade in Rochester, NY.
Al will forever be in our hearts and dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Lonnie Goodin will officiate. Pallbearers will be Aaron Goins, Noah Goins, James Fuqua, John Bottoms, Reuben Brown, and Dearl Burchett. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Eric Goins. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the American Legion: Saufley Post #18.
