Alan Baxter Edwards, 74, died Saturday, May 22, 2021. He was born in Danville, Kentucky on August 29, 1946 to the late Charles “Jinx” Ward and Fannie Jean Williams Edwards. Alan was a 1964 graduate of Boyle County High School, the first graduating class in the new building. He attended Eastern Kentucky University and served in the National Guard Army as a cook. After college, Alan worked at Bank of Danville and Corning before going to Norfolk Southern and retiring after 32 years. Alan owned and operated Ace Recycling from 1990–2000. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Rook and watching reruns of Mash, Westerns and Andy Griffith. He loved spending time with his family fishing and camping every summer weekend. Alan loved watching basketball, especially UK Wildcats and Steelers football. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Charles Davis Edwards. He is survived by his wife, of forty-seven years, Carolyn Sue Edwards; two sons: Brian Keith Walls (Donna) of Danville and Jeffrey Scott Walls (Stephanie) of Somerset; two daughters: Kimberly Edwards Downey (Eric), Amy Kristen Davis both of Danville; his sister, Judith Amy Boyd of Danville; twelve grandchildren: Angelica Maddox (Rodney), Breanna Walls (Jordan), Lindsey Walls, Logan Walls (Alyxsin), Aubrey Walls, Chloe Walls, Kaylee Walls, Jared Downey, Abigail Downey, Nathanael Alan Davis, Johnathan Seth Davis, Chase Lanham; six great-grandchildren: Jeremiah Gage Smith, Wyatt Smith, Viola Walls, Ollee Smith, Brantley Walls and Marlee Walls. Funeral service will be 1pm Friday, May 28, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. Rev. Phillip Coffman will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brian Walls, Jeff Walls, Logan Walls, Eric Downey, Seth Davis, Nate Davis, Frank Edwards, Lindsey Walls, Danny Streavels, and Rodney Maddox. Honorary Pallbearers will be Darrell Bryant, Stanley Derochea, Billy Carey, Jeff Duggins, and Jordan Smith. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery. Visitation will be 6p - 8p, Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
