Michael Owen Tharp, 31, died November 25, 2021, in Gravel Switch, Kentucky. Born October 16, 1990, in Danville, Kentucky, he was the son of Michael Wayne and Teresa Ann Turner Tharp. Michael graduated Boyle County High School in 2010 and worked at Kroger as a pharmacist technician for fourteen years. Michael’s biggest passion in life was helping others. He was a member of Beechfork Baptist Church. Michael enjoyed being outdoors, hiking and riding four-wheelers. Michael loved spending time with family, friends and his dog Ollie. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Diane Burton and Donald Turner, Owen and Louise Tharp and uncles, Bud Turner and Owen Tharp, Jr.
Michael is survived by his three sisters, Nannie (Randy) Hill, Sarah Tharp and Rachael (Josh) Culver; his grandfather, Larry Burton; his aunts and uncles, Delanna(Bryan) Clark, Missy(Pinky) Mattingly, Kim(Gary) Ford, Dru(Phil) Taylor, Tom(Cookie) Tharp, Harold(Judy) Tharp, Barney(Judy) Tharp, Ronnie(JoAnn) Tharp, Candy Jo Tharp, Andy Tharp, Craylon Mills and special great aunt, Jo Ann Taylor. Also seven nieces and nephews; Maddie, June Ann and Carlie Hill, Sam Tharp, Hannah Cropper, Harrison and Millie Culver; and lots of loving cousins especially Bo and Kip Turner, Caleb and Amelia Clark, Audri and Brandon Curtsinger, and Matt and Bridgette Mattingly.
Public visitation will be held from 5 pm - 9 pm, Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Funeral service will be 11 am, Thursday, December 2, 2021, at North Rolling Fork Church, 19601 Forkland Road. Rev. Benny McCartney will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Kip Turner, Cody Christerson, Matthew Mattingly, Caleb Clarke, Josh Culver and Randy Hill. Honorary pallbearers for will be Sam Tharp, Amelia Clark, Bridgette Mattingly, Nannie Hill, Sarah Tharp, Rachael Culver, April Goode and Nancie Creegan. Burial will be at Beechfork Cemetery in Marion County. Memorial donations are suggested to Arc Rehabilitation.
Visitation: after 5 p.m. December 1, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. December 2, 2021 at North Rolling Fork Church in Gravel Switch
Burial: Hayesville Cemetery in Gravel Switch

Michael was a kind, loving soul. I got to know him when he worked at Danville Kroger. He had this amazing smile, and always a great big hello. He had the gift of compassion for everyone he met. I am so sorry for your loss.

Michael was a great guy with a huge heart. He always had a smile on his face and always so fun loving.
