Jack Lytle Bosley, Jr., 75, died on April 2, 2026. He was born in Danville on April 3, 1950, to the late Jack Lytle and Lucy Puryear Bosley and grandson of Judge Emmett Vance Puryear and Lucy Bell Puryear and Professor Leslie Carol Bosley and Lillian Forsyth Bosley, all of Danville. Jack was the nephew of Robert Emmet Puryear of Louisville and Danville, and he was the nephew of Lillan Bosley Walter and her husband Edward Humphrey Walter, of Danville.

Jack was a graduate of Danville High School and Centre College of Kentucky, and was a farmer. He was a collector of a broad range of arcane artifacts including historical books often relating to Central Kentucky and interesting historical rental properties.

He enjoyed hunting, playing tennis and golf, and had a genuine passion for what he casually referred to as “The Romance of Farming.”

Jack is survived by his wife, Debbie Short Bosley, son, Robert “Bob” Puryear (Megan) Bosley, grandchildren, Emma, Kylee, Skylar, and Dalton Bosley and Cole, Charlie, and Campbell Jarnigan, and a sister, Lucy (James) Graves.

Private services were held at Bellevue Cemetery in Danville, Kentucky.

  1. I am so very sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. It seems I’ve known him my entire life and feeling the loss of such a wonderful man, classmate and friend leaves a real sadness in my heart. He will be missed by so many whose lives he touched throughout the years, and will surely be remembered and cherished by all who loved and respected him.

  2. Jack was such a sweet man. I met him through working at Dr. Spoonamore’s office as he was a patient of ours. Was always so nice to me when he came in the office. Sincere sympathy to Jack’s family and friends. Sending sincere prayers. 🙏

    Jack was indeed a colorful member of the DHS Class of ‘68.
    I remember how much he enjoyed Keeneland.
    His personality & voice was truly memorable.
    Rest in peace.
