Rachel May Ruth, 45, of Danville, Kentucky, passed away on January 25, 2026, after a brief and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Rachel was born on August 8, 1980. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend whose vibrant spirit touched everyone she encountered.

Rachel graduated from Garrard County High School and attended both Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky. She dedicated more than 20 years to Rack Room Shoes, beginning her career as a sales associate and working her way up to District Manager. She was deeply respected for her leadership, strong work ethic, and the care she showed to both customers and colleagues. Rachel loved nothing more than watching Survivor with Damaris or enjoying a good afternoon nap.

Rachel was a member of Gunns Chapel Church in Buckeye, Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband, Ben Ruth; her daughter, Damaris Ruth; her parents, Mark and Sharon May; her sisters, Samantha (Jeremy) Miller and Lesley (Peter) Berglar; and her nephews, Hagen and Mercer. Her extended family of in-laws, Bill and Kathy Ruth, Brian (Megan) Ruth, Liz (Austin) Shearer, Halee, Ayden, and Emma.

Rachel was fierce, sharp-minded, and deeply loyal to the people and things she loved. Above all else, her greatest joy and purpose was being a mother to her daughter.

A funeral service to celebrate Rachel’s life will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Baker and Dr. Glen Spann officiating. Visitation will be 4 -7 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Bellevue Cemetery in Danville, Kentucky.

  2. My heart just broke when I saw the post about Rachel’s passing. I didn’t know she was sick. I do know that she fought the whole way. She was always a fighter and competitor. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone that Rachel held close to her heart. Rest Easy my dear friend.   7. I am so sad and truly devastated to hear about Rachel. I loved her so much. My memories of her will always be of our softball and basketball days together. Proms. Spring breaks. Not a care in the world. She was so kind. Loving. My heart truly goes out to her family. Her sisters. Her husband. Her daughter. Praying for peace for you all. She was incredible.

  8. The one I should of never let get away. Often reminded by my father of this lol. I can remember so many of Rachel’s first…. first day of college at UK, first day at work at Rac Room, which anyone that knew Rachel knew this was a job that matched her perfectly . Man did she love shoes. I could go on and on . My heart goes out to her family and she’s sure got a good strong family at that…. Mark ,Sharon,Leslie, and Samantha my condolences.God sure got a good one with this one came knocking. That im certain of.

  9. Rachel was a sweet and super smart young lady. I loved teaching her and her sisters. Words can’t express the sympathy I have for her family, especially Sharon with whom I worked at GMS. ❤️I love all of you so much and you will continue to be in our prayers!❤️🙏
