Jose E. Yanguas

Jose Edolio Yanguas, 92, of Lancaster, Kentucky died on March 12, 2025. Jose was born on January 16, 1933, in Ibague, Colombia, to the late Hernesto and Hortensia Yanguas. He was a beloved husband, father, and devoted scientist, he was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Angela Yanguas, and his siblings Jorge Yanguas, Hernesto Yanguas, Louis Yanguas, Libardo Yanguas and Magola Yanguas.

Jose led a remarkable life. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree and spent many years dedicated to his career as a scientist in the oil industry, working for Exxon. Despite his professional accomplishments, Jose was simple and devoted to his family. He cherished the 65 years he spent married to his beloved wife, Cecilia Yanguas. Together, they raised a wonderful family, who will forever hold the memories of him close to their hearts.

Jose is survived by his loving wife Cecilia Chaves Yanguas, his daughter Aida Yanguas, his son Rexpierre (Robin) Yanguas, his grandchildren Jessica (Brooks) Rogers, and Derrick (Jackie) Poteet, his great-grandchildren Marcus Martinez (Cameron), Brendon Rodriguez, Lauren Rodriguez, Mazzy Poteet, Zoriah Yanguas and Azalie Yanguas, his siblings Graciela Yanguas and Alcides Yanguas, and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The family will gather at 11 a.m. at the church prior to the Mass.

Jose’s legacy is one of love, humility, and devotion to family. He is remembered for his kind spirit and enduring strength, qualities that will continue to inspire those who know him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Catholic disaster relief at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
