We’re so sad to hear of Jim’s passing. My mom has shared so many special memories of growing up with Jim (and Rick), and we will miss Jim dearly. We are praying for Susan, Rick and Jan at this very difficult time. My mom and I will join you at the memorial in Jasper. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you.

Jim was my brother for more than 54 years. He was always a great person. He had some surgery in the 1990’s. I was privileged enough to spend a month with him in Colorado. Susan oversaw his business. I stayed with Jim and oversaw his healing. I cleansed his incision and changed his bandage. I repaired his robe that had a rip. And I cooked special things for him. At that time, he was into Chicken and Dumplings. I also taught him a breathing exercise that I learned while taking care of my Dad previously. I enjoyed my time with Jim. He did not want anyone to be too worried about him, so when he had company, I timed it and came in and told him it was time for one thing or another. The people left and Jim rested. He laughed, but that is what he wanted me to do. When Susan came home, I stayed away from them so they could talk. I got to know his secretary. She and I went to lunch one day, to a wonderful steak house named, The Trail Dust. Rick and I had been out there and he really loved the place too. So I got the bright idea to express mail a steak to Rick at his office. He got it and put it in the refrigerator and took it home to eat. I told Jim about sending it to Rick when I returned. He laughed so hard he almost ripped a stitch. I felt very blessed to have had that month with my brother (in-law).
Jim was a very special person. He always had a story to tell. And he was always there to help others. Jim was always a fun person to be around. He also was a Christian. I do not think anyone would ever say anything bad about Jim. My husband, Rick, was so close to his brother, it is a very difficult time for him. I do not think Rick will get over losing Jim. But it was time for God to claim Jim and he will bring us all together again one day. May God bless all who will miss Jim so very much! Jim did suffer for over a year. He tried to get better, but it just was not meant to be. He did not deserve to suffer like that for so long. Now he is at rest!
Oh, when we discovered Jim was sick, in Colorado, and needed surgery, Rick and I were worried. I asked Rick if he would like for me to volunteer to go to Colorado and help. Rick told me that he had hoped I would say that. When we asked Jim, he too was happy for me to help. I felt blessed to be able to do it.
I had some pictures I wanted to download, but for some reason they would not download. They were some pictures of Jim and Rick growing up, and their parents, and a few years ago, of Jim and Rick, when Jim visited us in Georgia. I am so sorry I did not get to share those pictures.
When we lose someone so special, it really breaks our hearts. Jim did so much for so many people. He was a dog lover too. Jim, Rick and I have that in common. I had to stay at home, in Georgia, to care for our four large, aging dogs. I know Jim will look down and understand.
