Daniel “Danny” Elbert Cooper, 77, died on August 15, 2026. He was born in Chester, Pennsylvania on August 24, 1948, to the late Elbert and Vesta Montgomery Cooper. His family moved to Kentucky when he was five. Danny was a member of Parksville Knob Independent Baptist Church. He was a Vietnam War veteran having served in the United States Army. Danny worked for the railroad for over 40 years as both a carman and mechanic. He was also a tobacco farmer. He loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his parents Danny was predeceased by his first wife Donna and a sister Vicky (Danny) Wilkerson.

Danny is survived by his wife Sandy, daughter, Tracy (Justin) Mundy, sons, Ben (Connie) Cooper, and T.J. (Kimberly) Cooper, step-sons, Billy (Regina) Rice, Steven (Misty) Rice, and Travis Rice, and grandchildren, DeeAnna (Randy) Sparks, Cody Cooper, Tyler Cooper, Dylan (Kelly) Cooper, and Zachary (Kat) Cooper, and step-grandchildren Jordan (Brenden) Warren, and Alex Vaught.

The memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. Stacy Wilson and Nelson Reynolds will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Parksville Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 18. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parksville Cemetery Association.
