Barbara Grace Bennett

January 15, 1950 ~ July 10, 2026

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Grace Bennett, who completed her journey on July 10, 2026, at home with family.

Barbara Grace was born on January 15, 1940, to her late parents, Harry and Georgia Belle Butcher. Her name fit her spirit perfectly: she was equal parts grit and grace. To know Barb was to know a woman who was fiercely honest—never afraid to tell you exactly when she thought something was dumb—but also the person who would insist you take the brand-new striped sweater she just got, tags still on, simply because you said you liked it.

She lived life fully and loved deeply—even if she sometimes had a funny way of showing it. She believed life was meant to be shared and always tried to leave things a little bit tidier, a little bit prettier and smelling a little bit like bleach. She had a way of making ordinary moments feel like traditions.

She was a beloved daughter, sister to Patsy and her late brother Harry, and wife to her late husband, Ronald. She was a mother to three children (Douglas, Debbie, and Daria), grandmother to seven (Fallon, Michael, Kelsey, Danny, Emily, Taylor, and Tyler), great-grandmother to two (Ameera and Zayden), and dog-mom to Charlie, the spoiled dachshund. She was also a dedicated telephone operator for 26 years, a loyal companion, a reliable lunch date, and much more than can fit on a single page.

A memorial will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers (she preferred faux anyway), her family asks that you remember Barb by living a little more like she did. Buy a beautiful outfit just because “you’ve got a coupon!” Add a doily somewhere in your room, kitchen, or car. Visit the Manasquan Inlet. Use up the disposable camera. Mow your lawn perfectly. Go on a bike ride. Play bingo. Buy your dog a Big Mac. Decorate a Christmas tree (or three) and leave it up far longer than you should. Most of all, don’t wait for a reason to celebrate. Call someone you love. Get together. Go out to eat.
