Resided in: Danville, Kentucky

James Ronald “Ronnie” Tharp, 76, died on June 14, 2026. Born June 18, 1949 in Lebanon, KY to the late Owen Tharp and Frances Garrett Tharp,  Ronnie was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed.

Ronnie was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the great outdoors through fishing from his boat and hunting deer. He cherished the moments spent with family and friends, often gathering to enjoy a cold beer and sharing laughter. James dedicated over 30 years of his life working for Whirlpool. His love for University of Kentucky basketball was a defining aspect of his character, and many fond memories were built watching the games with those dearest to him.

He is survived by his devoted daughters, Maggie (Ty) Colwell and Rosie Faulkner, along with his cherished grandchildren, Eli Tibbles,  Ben Tibbles, and Maddison Faulkner. His legacy will also be carried on by his loving siblings: brothers Harold (Judy), Barney (Judy), Tom (Geneva), Mike (Teresa), and Andy Tharp; sisters Dru (Phil) Taylor, Missy (James Mark) Mattingly, Kim (Gary) Ford, Delanna (Bryan) Clark and Candy Jo Tharp. Each of them holds a special place in their hearts for Ronnie. He was preceded in death by his brother Owen Tharp Jr.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 18th, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. with Rev. JR Fields officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ronnie’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
