James "Jim" Michael Morley
August 14, 1950 ~ November 11, 2025
James Michael “Jim” Morley, 75, passed away on November 11, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born in Danville, Kentucky, on August 14, 1950, to the late Stanley and Mary Marshall Morley, Jim built a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for the people and places he loved.
Jim spent his entire career in the automotive industry in Lexington, where he was known as a talented salesman, respected broker, and trusted advisor. He loved the car business, and his success was measured not only by the deals he made but also by the lifelong friendships he formed with customers and colleagues.
A true water enthusiast, Jim cherished every moment spent on Herrington Lake and the Florida Gulf Coast. Whether behind the wheel of a boat or relaxing on shore, he found peace and joy in the rhythm of the water. Jim enjoyed old country music, good wine, good stories, and the easy laughter shared among friends. His beloved canine companions were always close by.
For more than 30 years, Jim shared his life with his devoted companion, Linda Best. Their partnership was one of deep devotion, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, humor, adventure, and a love for lake life. Linda’s presence brought Jim tremendous joy, and she remained his constant companion through every season of life.
Jim is survived by Linda Best; his sisters, Mary Fletcher and Lucy (Thomas) Looney; his brothers, Joe (Yvonne) Morley and Patrick (Robin) Morley; and his nieces and nephews, Patrick Letton, Meg Morley, Amelia Morley Murray, Thomas Looney II, and McCallum Morley. Jim was preceded in death by his nephew, Jeremy Letton.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 12 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025, with Father Danny Schwendeman serving as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. prior to the mass. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
In honor of Jim’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Danville–Boyle County Humane Society or the Herrington Lake Conservation League, reflecting his love of animals and the lake he called home.
