July 14, 1959 ~ August 7, 2025

Lee Alexander Yount, of Danville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on July 14, 1959, to Freddie Lee Yount and Sam Riddle, Lee was a 1978 graduate of Bryan Station High School and a 1982 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, earning a degree in Industrial Technology.

Lee’s greatest role in life was as a loving husband to his wife of 35 years, Starla, and a devoted father to his cherished daughter, Kendall.  Lee always stood by them with unwavering love and support. Whether it was a spontaneous gesture, a thoughtful gift, or a grand adventure, Lee constantly found ways to bring happiness to Starla and Kendall. As a father, he was the ultimate “Girl Dad,” temporarily slowing down his career to coach and travel with Kendall throughout her TaeKwonDo career. He was incredibly proud to see her earn her MD and MBA and to see her start her medical career.

Immediately upon graduating from college, Lee embarked on his entrepreneurial journey as a plumbing contractor with his good friend, Brady Brewer.  With Lee’s $500 and Brady’s van, they began what grew to be a successful residential and commercial plumbing company with over 30 employees. Lee later moved into residential construction, where he earned a stellar reputation as a luxury custom home builder. Known for his integrity and exceptional craftsmanship, Lee’s commitment to his clients could be summed up by his favorite saying, “It may be your home, but it will always be my house.”  He built lasting relationships with everyone he worked with.  His success was not achieved alone—throughout his long career, he was supported by his wife, his valued employees, and many trusted subcontractors. He especially relied on exceptional project managers, James Closterman and Zachary Hendrickson, along with architect Marc VanSteenlandt, each of whom he viewed as family.

Lee was a man of quiet faith, with a deep and abiding belief in God. He and Starla prayed together nightly, strengthening their bond and trust in God’s guidance.  He believed firmly in God’s power and grace and tried to live his life in a way that reflected these values.

He was a mentor to many. Whether it was imparting his knowledge of his trade skills, hunting, fishing, shooting, or just general life experiences, he was always happy to share what he knew. He loved lifting others up and celebrating their successes.   He especially enjoyed spending time with his best friends from college, Dan Stone & Ralph Honchel, and the Thursday afternoons spent playing pool with his special group of friends.   His generosity and loyalty left a lasting impact on those who knew him.   He was larger-than-life and will be missed by many.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Alexandra Gabrielle Yount, as well as his loving sister, Gay (Wayne) Herrington. He is survived by his wife, Starla Rose Yount, and their cherished daughter, Kendall Richardson Yount.

A service in remembrance of Lee’s life will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville, Kentucky, with Rev. Jimmy Closterman officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice.

  1. The Von Lingers Wayne(Boo) and our son Zayne Loved visiting with Lee, Ralph,Dan, Rick, John and even Hank on Thursday’s. The boys all shot pool and Hank would hang out by the pool with Zayne, myself and all of John’s dogs and cats! He will truly be missed by all! 2. To Starla and Kendall , There are no words to ease the pain, you couldn’t help but love my cousin Lee, even though we were miles apart I’ll always cherish my childhood and young adult memories of Lee, his voice and laughter were infectious, my fondest memories were the short time that I had the honor to work for him with his Mother’s guidance, a few words come to mind, integrity, precision and kindness. He worked very hard and always had a smile to share, Rest Easy Lee , I’ll always remember you
    Love, La Donna

  3. Starla and Kendall I am sorry for your loss. I remember speaking with Lee at ATA tournaments. He always made me laugh with a dry little comment. Such a great guy who loved you both dearly!

  4. May God be holding both of you in his hands. Lee was such a fantastic, loving and devoted man. Prayers and hugs for you both

  5. I am heartbroken for this family. Kendall has been a good friend to me and she spoke of her father often with great joy. We often connected over our closeness with our parents. My heart goes out to both his daughter and wife he has left behind and I am sending them all of the love, kindness and compassion I can.

  6. With fond, fond memories
Thank you Lee for the fun and laughter.
Hugs and love to Starla and Kendall 🩷🩷

  7. Starla, we are very sorry. Wayne and I care a lot about you and Lee because you brought to us what no other person could have given. Lee was a kind man. He always had such patience with us, even when he gave us four days to choose everything for our house. He always had stories to tell with a sweet ending. I cannot say anything that would ease your pain, but know you are in our prayers. He spoke nothing but great things about Kendall. When he mentioned her name, his eyes lit up like the stars. Lee will be missed. God Bless. Love, Wayne and DJ Roth

  8. Uncle Lee was such a kind and caring person, I deeply appreciate everything you all have done for my Dad and for us. He always put his family and friends first. His warmth, generosity, and big heart touched so many lives. He’ll be missed more than words can say.

  9. The first time I met Lee, I felt like he was a good friend. What a great guy!

We extend our deepest sympathies. Our prayers go out to the family.

  10. I grew up with Lee – we lived across the street from him for most of my childhood. He was my sisters boyfriend but, like a brother to me. The world is a sad place without him.

    Rest in Pease brother..

    • Hi, Brian. I have so many good things through the years from Lee about you, Kathleen and your parents. Your mother’s cheesecake made a lasting impression! He had fond memories of time spent with your family.
