Jean Parker Calhoun, 84, of Danville passed away on September 8, 2024. Jean was born on September 28, 1939, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, to the late Arnold Parker and Grace Mansfield. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with her kindness and warm spirit. She was preceded in death by her husband James Calhoun, her sisters Jacqueline “Jackie” Bragg and Linda Chaney, and her brothers Billy Ray Parker and Paul Parker.
Jean found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly her love for bowling, where she excelled and even participated in the National Championships. She also dedicated her time working at Joe Taylor’s Corner Grocery, where she connected with the community and brightened the days of those around her. She loved working with people and helping with their design projects in their homes.
She is survived by her sisters Mary Williams and Rosie Hagele, and several nieces and nephews including Rebecca Cafferata, Don Chaney, and Diana Williams-Sexton who will forever cherish the memories they shared.
The funeral service will be at 1 pm, Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Visitation will be 11 am until the service. Jean will be buried with her family at Danville Memorial Gardens.
