  17. Ophelia and family we are sadden for your loss of Pete. We fell in love with the Hernandez family when we first met. Over the years we have talked of the memories we shared with you’ll , the card games, back yard games, picnics, and the meals we shared and so much more. Your children and ours were such good friends they as well as Bob and I always felt welcome at your home. I can see Pete in-my head now telling jokes, with that big smile on his face, especially the one about taking the pig to market in the wheel barrel. May your memories of Pete fill in that hole you have in your heart. Deepest sympathy to you and your family.

  18. The world has lost a very special person. He was such a hard working man, but also one of the nicest, most caring individuals I\’ve ever met. No where could you find a person with more integrity than Mr. Hernandez. The last time I got to talk with him was March 21st, 2017 (his 90th birthday). Instead of talking about his milestone, he wanted to update me on his children instead. I am saddened that I had not gotten to talk to him since. Cindy, Patricia, Steve, know that I am thinking of you and your mother at this time.

  19. I never saw Mr. Hernandez without a smile and a warm greeting. He would come to the McDowell wellness Center around 6:30 in the morning and was always cheerful and full of energy. He greeted everyone and everyone greeted him. He wasA a bright light in a often dim world. My prayers to the family

  23. Recently I was telling of the time Pete & Ophelia made a wonderful meal for the Mocks Creek crew. Of course Pete brought his famous salsa and his personal hot sauce! Dad took one tiny bite of the hot sauce and decided that was more than he could handle. Bob Teater said he could handle it and took several bites, turning bright red with sweat pouring down his face. Pete laughed so hard at Bob trying to manage but ultimately Pete was the one who enjoyed the sauce. Many wonderful memories of Pete. Please know that you are all in our prayers. Sending big hugs to each of you.
