George Thomas Ballard “Tom”, 70, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022 in Louisville, KY. He was born November 13, 1951 in Harrodsburg. He was the son of the late Dr. George Fielding Ballard and the late Betty Dennis Ballard Brummett. Tom was a 1969 graduate of Harrodsburg High School where he played football and basketball. He attended Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, VA and then the University of Kentucky. He was an equine insurance adjuster at Dixon-Ballard Insurance for 30 years before starting Ballard Home Builders. He was a member of Southland Christian Church and a life long UK fan.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Bob Ballard; his nephew, Aaron Ballard; and stepdad, Joe Brummett.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Ballard (Brett Hart); son, Kyle Ashcraft; granddaughter, Kylee Ashcraft; sister, Pat Ballard Murphy (Eddie). He is also survived by his nephew Dr. Adam Ballard (Anna) and three great-nephews Whelan, Lochlain, and Arlo Ballard.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 PM, Friday, July 29, 2022 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville, Kentucky with a visitation prior from 4-6 PM. Everett Priddy will be officiating.
Memorial donations are suggested to Southland Christian Church or to the Lexington Humane Society.
