Theresa Louise Hughes Perros, 95, died September 8, 2021 in Danville. Born July 24, 1926 in Shelby City, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John Flemming Hughes and Mary Isabell Kelley. Theresa graduated from Danville High School in 1944. Her first job was at Farmers National Bank, she then started the medical records department at Ephraim McDowell Hospital, then became a secretary in the law offices of Newlin & Silliman, and businessman Dan Krueger. She hosted and co-owned The Town House restaurant with her husband, the late George Perros, for twenty-five years. Theresa worked as a court reporter, administrative assistant at Commonwealth Savings and Loan, then became assistant manager at the Holiday Inn in Somerset. After returning to Danville, she was the finance secretary at First Christian Church, later becoming co-owner of Mom Blakeman’s Candy with her husband. Theresa was a fifty-year member of the Garden Club of Danville and was its president twice. She was also a certified Garden Show judge who attained “master level” of the National Garden Club. Theresa was a member of Beta Sigma Phi – Master Chapter #927 and member of D.A.R. – Asaph Chapter. She taught religious education and was a girl scout instructor. She was a past member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was president of the Episcopal Church Women United and Daughters of the King and is a member of Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church. Grammy, as her grandchildren called her, loved to sing, attend plays and concerts, read history and biographies, arrange flowers, gather with family, and lead the sacramental life.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Perros Fuqua; her son, Mike Perros; her seven grandchildren, Sarah (Robbie) Wilson, Nathan (Tiffany) Fuqua, Margaret Fuqua, Ben Fuqua, Haley Perros, Michaelle Perros, and Mary Theresa “Tess” Perros; and her eight great-grandchildren, Baker Rose Wilson, Meg Wilson, Mitchell Wilson, Brigid Wilson, George Wilson, Kirkland Fuqua, Natalie Fuqua, and Webb Fuqua.

The funeral mass will be held 12 pm, October 7, 2021 at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Danville, Kentucky with the Reverend Anthony McLaughlin as celebrant. Visitation is 10 am – 12 pm at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Danville, Kentucky. Active pallbearers will be Barry Young, Tom Gravely, Dr. Lee Daniel, Johnny Ransdell, John Stagg, Raymond Kelley, Drew Hardgrove, Carter Cox, Chuck Renfro, and Preston Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Danville Garden Club and Daughters of the American Revolution – St. Asaph Chapter. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the Danville Garden Club, D.A.R. – St. Asaph Chapter, or Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church.
