Stanley Porter Bryant, Sr., 87, of Danville died December 30, 2019 at the VA Medical Center, Lexington. Born March 6, 1932 in Lexington, Ky. he was the son of the late William Arnett and Luverna Gayhart Bryant. Stan graduated from Lancaster High School and attended UK and Transylvania University in pre-med studies. He was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. He listened to Bluegrass music, made furniture in his wood working shop and loved to fix, repair and make clocks. He also was an amateur photographer, loved all animals, especially dogs, and could fix anything but loved working on automobiles the most. He had his pilots license and he and his brother started working on small engines and boat motors when they were young. He served as a helicopter mechanic in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was predeceased by three brothers, Earl Stansell Bryant, William Arnett Bryant Jr. and James Hansford Bryant. He was married to his soul mate, Emma Jean Hogue Bryant for 63 years until her death a month ago.

Stan is survived by his son, Stanley “Bucky” Porter Bryant Jr. of Danville and his daughter, Elizabeth Gayhart “Betsy” Stratton of Perryville; two grandchildren, Erica Ann (Tim) Sullivan and Brandon Lynn (Victoria) Cain and two great-granddaughters, Sydney M. Sullivan and Kayleigh M. Cain.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Rev. Tim Noel and Rev. Basil Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Joey Harris, Freddie Hogue, Dennis Surovec, Darrell Terry, Tim Sullivan and Glen Spoonamore. Honorary pallbearers will be Archie Coffman, Joe Austin Caldwell, Kelly Davis and Bruce Wise. Visitation will be from 11 to 1 p.m., Tuesday, prior to the service at 1 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested to the Central Kentucky Blood Center or the American Cancer Society.
