Richard Howard Simpson, Jr., 89, died Thursday, May 30, 2019 in Lancaster. He was born in Lincoln County, Ky. on February 12, 1930, to the late Beatrice Benge Simpson Waterman and the late Richard H. Simpson, Sr. Richard attended the Indian Hills Christian Church. He graduated from the Danville School of Nursing and retired from Kentucky State Department of Social Services after 31 years as a nurse. He loved to work on clocks and go camping. Richard was an active member and past Master of Franklin Masonic Lodge #28 F & AM, a member of the York Rite bodies of Danville, the Wilderness Shrine Club of Danville, Oleika Shrine Temple of Lexington, Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Boyle Chapter 359, Past Deputy Grand Patron, Order of Eastern Star for the State of Kentucky, a former volunteer for the Danville and Boyle County Fire Departments for 20 years and a former member of the Danville Boyle County Rescue Squad. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Geraldine Daugherty Simpson; two sons, Roger Dale Simpson and Richard Dwayne Simpson; four brothers, Paul D. Simpson, Mason H. Simpson, Delbert Simpson, David Simpson and two sisters, Caroline Miller and Elizabeth Moberly.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Emily (John) Adkins and Richard S. Simpson, both of Danville; a sister, Stella Simpson of Danville and three great-grandchildren, Riley Mitchell, Asher Adkins and Elijah Abee.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2019 at Stith Funeral Home. Chaplin Brad King will officiate. Pallbearers will be member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge #28 F & AM. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2019, 5 – 8 p.m., with a Masonic service from 6:30 to 7 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals.
