Randall Leon Riley, 75, died on Monday, September 18, 2023. He was born in Lebanon, Kentucky to the late Robert A. and Dorothy Madelle Riley on December 4, 1947. Randall graduated from Boyle County High School in 1966 where he played football all four years. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969 in the Vietnam War. His commendations included the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert (81mm Mortar), Expert (Rifle), Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnamese Presidential Unit Citation with Palm, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Randall continued to serve his community as a Constable and with the Boyle County Fire Department as a Lieutenant with Station 3. He volunteered with the American Legion: Saufley Post #18 for twenty years. He retired after 36 years as an engineer from Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Randall loved to fish and work in his garden. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his dogs Max and Harley. Randall was loving and generous with his family and friends and would “give the shirt off of his back” if someone needed it.

Randall is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Potter, children, Amy Lynn Miller (Malcolm), Thomas Scott Riley (Debbie), and grandchildren; Jacob Sims (Laura), Hannah Sims (Ben), Sara Beth Miller, Morgan Layne, Dylan Layne, Emily Legg, Ryan Legg (Paige), and Major Mitchell Legg, great-grandchildren; Grayson Thomas Sims, Lucas Riley, and Dutton Legg, brothers, Robert Riley and Bertice Riley (Jeannie), sisters; Sue Glasscock (Randy), Kathy Goldsberry (Steve), and Lisa Campbell (Tommy) and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville. Rob Kernodle and Andy Baker will officiate. Pallbearers will be Michael Bibb, Kevin Arnold, Corey Arnold, Chief Petty Officer (Retired) Benjamin K. Smith; United States Navy, Dale Riley, Michael McHolan, Jason Riley, and Ethan Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Morgan Cox, Michael Cox, and the members of American Legion: Saufley Post #18. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville.
