Ophelia Guizar Hernandez, 91 went on to be with her husband on Friday, July 17, 2020. She was born in Dodge City, Kansas on January 6, 1929 to the late Jesus Guizar and Trinidad Valencia Guizar.
Ophelia was an active member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church as a Eucharist Minister, worked in The Amen Corner and was part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She belonged to the Hospital Auxiliary at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville for more than 30 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her husband of 65 years, Pedro “Pete” Medina Hernandez preceded her in death on April 25, 2020.
She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Hargis of Science Hill and Patricia Crawford of Burgin; a son, Steven P. (and JennyRose) Hernandez of Lexington; four grandchildren, Trinity, Molli, Jesse and Olivia; one great-grandson, Owann; two brothers and one sister.
A memorial mass will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.In lieu of flowers Ophelia suggested memorial donations to Hospice, American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The family has decided to do a joint Memorial Service for both their parents on June 26, 2021 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. We can then all come together to celebrate the good lives they had and the great legacy they left for us all. Please sign the guestbook or send a Hug from Home.
