Oliver Holt McFarland, 64, died November 15, 2020 in Danville, Kentucky. He was born January 6, 1956 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, the son of the late Stanley Lee and Alma Jean Agee McFarland. Oliver was a Montgomery County High School and Eastern Kentucky University graduate. Oliver earned his master’s degree in counseling and was a national board-certified counselor. For the last twenty-two years he was committed to Recovery Roadhouse, and recently volunteered at Shepherd’s House and Sunrise Children’s Services. He found his calling as the Activities Director at Charleston Healthcare, where he worked for twenty-eight years. He learned to play the piano as a teenager and played almost daily. He especially enjoyed playing for nursing home residents on Sunday mornings. On warm days, he could often be found riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Oliver poured himself into other people and was an excellent friend. He was predeceased by a brother Danny Lee McFarland, and sister, Carolyn Sue McFarland Brown.

He is survived by his daughter, Trina (Travis) McFarland Kern of Danville; three grandchildren Corban, Danyale, and Hayle; a brother, Johnny Wayne McFarland of Mt. Sterling; a sister Delores McFarland Ratliff; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. A Family Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Longview Cemetery, Bethel, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Sandy Blair, Paul Hutt, Travis Kern, Brad McFarland, Russell McFarland, and Matt Sowders. Memorial donations are suggested to The Recovery Roadhouse (P.O.
