Oliver “Jack” Henderson, 89, of Danville passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021. Born February 28, 1932 in Somerset, KY, he was the son of the late Everett Henderson and Anna Mae Mercer Henderson and step-son of the late Mary M. Silver Henderson.

Oliver is survived by his wife of sixty-six years Jane Trimble Henderson; two daughters, Margaret Moore (William) of Danville, and Kathy Blanton (Timothy) of Huntsville, Alabama; four grandchildren, Matt Moore (Jaqualine) of Huntsville, Alabama; Michael Moore of Gillette, Wyoming; Amy Wilson (Joshua) and Amanda Chong (Edward), both of Huntsville, Alabama; and one great-grandchild, William Chong.

Oliver was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He maintained communications for first, the Southern Railway, and then for the Norfolk-Southern Railway until his retirement.

Upon retirement, Oliver was able to further pursue the things he loved: spending time with family, helping others, gardening, bee-keeping, basketmaking, leather crafting, camping and tinkering. He had a creative mind and was able to repair almost anything with what he had around the house.

A private graveside service including military honors will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery on Friday, November 19, 2021.

Memorial donations are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.

Please sign the guestbook and send a Hug from Home.
