June (McHan) Simpson, 93 passed away on June 6, 2021. She was born July 22, 1927, the daughter of Charles and Lucile (nee) McHan in Chattanooga, TN. June was married to William (Bill) Eugene Simpson on January 17, 1948, and was married for 73 years.

June attended The College of Charleston, Charleston, SC where she played basketball. She also attended Barton College, formerly Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC. She worked for the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles in Annandale, VA for 3 years. She was a member of Rhett Avenue Christian Church, Charleston, SC, First Christian Church, Falls Church, VA where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of Middletown Christian Church, Middletown, KY.

June is preceded in death by her parents, Lucile (Sears) and Charles Aliance McHan. She is survived by her husband, William Eugene Simpson, Harrodsburg, KY, a daughter Karen LeAnn (Simpson) and Darell G. Rickmers of Danville, two grandchildren Corey Michael Rickmers, Silver Spring, MD and Kara Elizabeth Rickmers, Seoul, South Korea; a sister Glenda (McHan) and Joe Livingston, niece Denise (Livingston) and Kevin Brignac, great nieces Jennifer (Bruce) and William Morris (Callie and Joseph Steff) and Michelle Bruce, nieces Jean Simpson, Middletown, KY, Susan (Simpson) Dave DeChene, Wenatchee, Washington, Jimmy and Martha Simpson, Baltimore, MD, Joey Simpson, Baltimore, MD and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be 12 pm, Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Joey Pusateri will officiate. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, Kentucky. Visitation will be 4pm – 6 pm, Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Please sign the online guestbook and send a Hugs from Home.
