Michael F. (Mike) Hamm passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021. Mike grew up in Danville and attended Danville High School and Sue Bennett College where he met his future bride, Beth. Mike joined his father-in-law, Paul R. Wilson in operating Wilson Oil Company in 1969. Mike was active in the Jaycees and Laurel County Boosters Club. He coached Little League for many years and enjoyed playing softball, eventually on the same team with all three of his sons. Mike had served on the London Utility Commission for over 25 years and was the current Chairman. He also served on the CVADD board for the same time period.

Mike loved to hunt birds and always had at least one bird dog. He passed this love on to his sons and grandsons.

Mike was a long-time member of First Baptist Church. Just as he cared for his own yard, he often planted trees and sprayed the grass at church just because he wanted it to look nice.

In 2013 Mike received a double lung transplant. He was always so grateful for this gift of life. One of the most gratifying acts he accomplished was counseling and encouraging others who were facing lung transplants themselves. He felt like that was one of his purposes.

Mike is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beth, three sons, Michael (Michelle), Jay (Kym), and Charlie, nine grandchildren, his mother, Lois Hamm of Danville, sisters Melanie Hafley (Joseph) and Mary Bell, five nephews and two great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul T. Hamm, and daughter-in-law Glenda Hamm.

Private services will be held with no visitation.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church Youth Building Fund, 804 West 5th Street, London, Kentucky 40741: or the Kentucky Organ Donor Association, 10160 Linn Station Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40223.
