Michael Edward Orberson, 59, of Danville died Sunday, February 19, 2017. Born December 31, 1957, he was the son of Edward Lee and Sheila Ray Johnson Orberson. He was self-employed and was a terminal manager of several trucking companies. He was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and a 1975 graduate of Boyle County High School. He played baseball for Cumberland College, TN and the University of South Alabama and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1981. He was inducted in the BCHS Athletic Hall of Fame and was the MVP of the 1974 – 1975 football team. He held state records for baseball including “most stolen bases”. He loved his family, friends and community above all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Orberson.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Elliott Orberson, a daughter Meredith Orberson and a son Nicholas (Shannon) Orberson, both of Bowling Green, his sister, Karen (Barry) Levy of Georgetown, grandchildren Ashlyn and Kenna Orberson, mother-in-law Betsy Elliott of Danville, sister-in-law, Sheryl Orberson of Lexington, and special friends, Ella Grace, Ethan & Edie Gover of Danville

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Tommy Valentine and Rev. Ernest Martin.will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Orberson, David Camic, Joe Beldon, Eddie Tamme, Johnnie Jordan, Steve Simpson, Mike Brummett, and Todd Burns. Honorary pallbearers will be James Yates, Chester Kavanaugh, Bradley Levy and his McDonald’s Coffee Club Friends. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations to the LABC Building Fund or the Boyle Co. High School Baseball Program.
