Melvin Clyde Shannon, 66, of Perryville died July 13, 2019 surrounded by his family. Born August 13, 1952 in Boyle County to the late Homer and Lilly Carrier Shannon. He was 1970 graduate of Boyle County High School. Melvin was a member of Doctors Fork Baptist Church – where he was a Deacon, past youth director and Sunday school teacher. He worked for Intelligrated for 38 years. Melvin loved golf, UK basketball and most of all his wife, children and grandchildren. Melvin is predeceased by several brothers and sisters Donald Shannon, Terry Shannon, Homer Lee Shannon, Charles Shannon, Shirley Shannon, and Debra Kay Shannon, Ronnie Shannon.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years Marsha Hamilton Shannon, his daughter Nikki (Joey) Sowders of Stanford, his son Melvin Keith (Loretta) Shannon of Perryville, grandchildren Caleb Sowders, Codie Sowders, Jordan Sowders, Jessica (Chris) Cheatham, and Alexis Shannon, great grandchild Lilly Kay Cheatham, and brothers Ricky (Linda) Shannon of Somerset, Ray Shannon of Danville, Dale (Barbara) Lewis of Danville and Judy Shannon (the late Ronnie Shannon) of Danville.

Funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Danville with Rev John David Lane and Ricky Shannon officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Perryville. Pallbearers will be Brent Shannon, Jason Shannon, Ryan Shannon, Jody Shannon, Brian Shannon, Steve Campbell, Bruce King, and Allen King. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-9pm at Stith Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to Doctors Fork Baptist Church Youth Fund, 14331 Lebanon Rd, Perryville, KY 40468.
