Luwell “Buck” Taylor, 85, of Danville, died Thursday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Born October 14, 1931 in Casey County, Ky., he was the son of the late Edward Howard and Garyne V. Royalty Taylor. Buck attended the Elk Cave and Forkland Schools and retired after 40 years from Corning Glass Co. and N.A. Phillips. Buck was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and the U.S. Army, serving two tours and during the Korean War. He loved to farm, work with his cows, travel to the Smokey Mountains and spend time with his family. The best times of his life were with his family and his friends and everyone was his friend.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie Burns Taylor of Danville, a daughter, Theresa Ann Burns (Manuel) Conder of Stanford, a son Jerry Dewayne (Teresa) Smothers of Perryville, a brother, Clifton Taylor of Danville, four grandsons, Joey Burns, Justin “Spud” (Scarlet) Smothers, Jared (Katie) Phillips and Sean Conder; three great-grandchildren, Lucy Sebastian, Carleigh Burns and Duncan Phillips. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dallas Taylor and Bobby Taylor.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Brother Paul Bastin will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Taylor, Steve Taylor, Mike Taylor, Cam Richardson, Randy Richardson, Greg Taylor, Justin Smothers and Shawn Conder. Honorary pallbearers will be Carleigh Burns, Manuel Conder, Jim Underwood, Cliff Buckingham, Ronnie Belcher, Jack Sexton, Delbert Maddox, Ricky Cochran, Dr. David “Yogi” Overstreet, Bob Lear and Ken Presley. Visitation will be after 4 p.m., Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alum Springs First Church of God.
