Karol Belcher Wilkins passed away on September 8, 2022, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. Born December 18, 1947, to the late Elmer and Sylvia (Pendygraft) Strevels of Parksville, KY. Karol, as she was known to her family and friends, lived most of her early life in Parksville. A graduate of Boyle County High School, she was a good student and excelled in courses such as Latin and Algebra. From an early age, Karol enjoyed playing the piano by ear and was a gifted practitioner of cross-stitch and other intricate forms of needlework. Shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life Gary Belcher, also from Parksville and together they raised three children, Shawn (Laurie) Belcher, Elizabeth (Jamie) Moreland, and Joanna (Chris) Searcy. Karol was employed at Corning Glass Works and Thom McCan from where she retired in 1994. Karol and Gary were blessed with their first grandchildren before Gary passed in September of 1997. Karol later remarried to Wally Wilkins of Florida. They lived in Danville until Wally’s death in 2018. Recently, Karol was the very first resident of Walker’s Trail Senior Living facility on Davco Drive where she enjoyed taking part in family brunches and watching UK sports. In addition to her children, Karol is survived by her brothers, Morris (Florann) Strevels of Danville, KY, Danny Strevels of Moreland, KY, and David (Dianne) Strevels of Lancaster, KY, her grandchildren, Megan Cushing (Brian) Bell of Nicholasville, KY, Maxwell Searcy (McKenna), Lilly Moreland, Ellie Kate Searcy, Danielle Moreland, Evan Moreland, all of Danville, KY and two great-grandchildren, Salem Isaac and Pearl Searcy of Danville, KY.

The visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at First Church of God in Danville. Rev. Michael Cox will officiate. Pallbearers will be Shawn Belcher, Chris Searcy, Jamie Moreland, Maxwell Searcy, Evan Moreland, and Charles Singleton. Honorary pallbearers will be Megan Cushing Bell, Lilly Moreland, Ellie Kate Searcy, and Danielle Moreland. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to local child abuse organizations or to the American Heart Association.
