My Sweet Baboo, Uncle Fairy, Dad, brother, John, Pops are all names for the love of my life and best friend, John Henly Sanders. Surrounded by family, John passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017, from complications from a fall. He left his biggest fan and wife of almost 23 years, Ginger Sanders, three daughters (Beth, Jill, Lindsey), 2 sons (Patrick and Matthew) 10 grandsons and 2 granddaughters ranging from 17 years to 2 months, a sister, Dee (George) Schweikle, and a brother, Richard (Goldie) Sanders, and a large number of dear nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beth Sanders and a brother, Billy Sanders.

Although born in Louisville, Ky November 26, 1945, to Bill and Mary Elizabeth Sanders, John lived with his family in Danville, Ky until John left for college in 1964. John had a full football scholarship to Murray State University but transferred to University of Kentucky where he graduated with a BS degree. John worked for Cutting Tools Inc., for 38 years as Vice President of Sales.

John, the love of Ginger’s life and Ginger, the love of John’s life, married March 26, 1994. Immediately following their wedding, John designed and built their home on their Blue Crab Winery Farm in Anderson County. For over 19 years, they lived and worked their farm; these years were the happiest of their lives.

On February 3, 2012, John was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. In 2013, they moved to Greenville SC to be closer to John’s Alzheimer’s clinical trials and their daughter, Lindsey. Lindsey was John’s daily companion from September 2012 until March 2016. John and Ginger did everything they could to slow the disease but to no avail.

Visitation will be February 19, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Stith Funeral Home. Celebration of John’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Centenary United Methodist Church, 1441 Perryville Road, Danville, KY with lunch following.
