Jean Ellen Dean, 59, died November 2, 2021, in Danville. Born April 23,1962 in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Holland Sr. and Thelma Jean Kohlmeyer Holland. Jean loved being a member of the Temple Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and learning military history. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Roger Cameron Dean; a granddaughter Emma Smock; and a brother James F. Holland.
Jean is survived by a daughter Amy Elizabeth (Joshua) Smock; a son Jeremy Darrell (Julie) Dickerson; seven grandchildren Jayden Smock, Noah Dickerson, Ezra Smock, Johnny Smock ,Carter Dickerson, Forrest Smock ,and Fynn Smock; four sisters, Joyce Ainslie, Janet Evans, June Rexford, and Jody Holland; three brothers, Johnny Holland, Jay Holland, and Jeff Holland.
Visitation will be Tuesday November 9, 2021, at 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 1 pm. Dr. James McCarroll will officiate. Pallbearers are Joshua Way McCaroll, Joseph Zachary McCaroll, Micah Andrew McCarrol, Jeremy Darrell Dickerson, Joshua Tyler Smock and David Allen Dickerson.
