James Lloyd Rankin, 71, of Danville, died Sunday, December 13, 2020. Born June 14, 1949 in Danville, he was the son of James C. Rankin and Betty Louise Moore Rankin Arnold. He was a 1968 graduate of Danville High School and earned his Bachelors Degree in Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He was a civil engineer for the Housing and Urban Development urban renewal program. Jimmy volunteered for 30 years on the Logistics Committee of the Great American Brass Band Festival and on the Board of Family Services of Boyle County who honored him as a Lifetime Board Member. He was a member of The Presbyterian Church and was renowned as a handy man who could fix anything.

Survivors include the love of his life, Marianne Montgomery Mims, his brothers, Wigham (Jodi) Arnold of Danville and Lloyd Mason Arnold of West Hollywood, CA., Marianne’s daughter, Christy (Richard) Block of Louisville, and their grandchildren, Hayden Block and Katie Block (Ethan Toney).

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Danville, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Richard Block, Hayden Block, Chris Cook, Mike Adams, Gayden Gideon and Bill Blair. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Brown, Bruce Camenisch, Johnny Ransdell, Mike Leake, Jack Bosley, Bill Kriener, Louis Burke and the Brass Band Logistics Committee. The family suggests memorial donations be sent to Family Services of Boyle County or the Great American Brass Band Festival.
